Advantages of doing POP (Plaster of Paris) before painting

Plaster of Paris is used for both oil and acrylic paints. There is a lot of merit in applying it before painting. When we use Plaster Of Paris, its gypsum content provides it a lot of shine and smoothness. Also, it gives a firm surface on which the colors can settle. Also, think of ceiling and extensions of wall. If you use it atop coloring (acrylic or oil), it would only stretch and come out. While using Plaster Of Paris, scrub the surface off any dust or foreign particle that might have settled. This water soluble acrylic primer shall then be used.

If you intend to use an acrylic paint, never shy away from a couple of coats of the primer. Yes, you can only find the POP application advantageous if you give it enough time to be dried prior to the application of oil paints.
